Happy Friday! This week’s feature is an absolute BOSS. Her energy and style is so unique, and I love her no-nonsense attitude and incredibly strong work ethic. I knew that she was someone who I could learn from. Everything from her branding down to her infamous quotes, is on point. She started an amazing Girl Boss Women’s Collective, and helps women build their businesses and brands. In other words – she teaches Femalepreneurs how to get their complete business shit together. And I ain’t mad about it! She is also a world traveler, and we have the same favorite housewife in common. You’re gonna love this one ladies. Grab a cup and enjoy your Friday read! Get to know….

Hi Sharon! Welcome to The Boss Diary! So glad you’re here. Tell me all about your work as a Startup Strategist
I’m an Educator, Holistic Business Strategist and Author. My goal is to assist emerging, early-stage and established business owners get their complete business sh*t t together with planning, creating, launching and growing a successful business. I offer consult strategy sessions, produce an annual WomeneurCon event and moderate my WomeneurCollective membership.
I see that you’re part of a Global Lady Boss Community. Tell me more about Womeneur Collective.
Yes, the WomeneurCollective membership launched August 2017. Inside, this global, supportive community, members are provided with a Business Kit once monthly filled with instructional videos, audio files and downloads sharing information on a plethora of business topics. Members also have access to featured expert guests, private forums, virtual classrooms, additional resources and each other to learn, support and grow with each other.
We all know that it can be challenging to start a new career and let go of the fear that holds us back. Can you tell me how you got started as a Startup Strategist?
It was an ‘ah hah’ moment that came to me a few years after I launched my second business. I began contemplating what business to begin next and while researching I began seeing what I call ‘the crazy’ in websites, social media posts, etc. I came to the realization that during my years of being an entrepreneur, I learned so much about business. I gained a holistic knowledge.. Meaning I have good knowledge in many areas of business (i.e. startup, branding, marketing). It was this eureka moment that I realized I wanted to ‘give back’ by launching Womeneur to help women avoid the same mistakes I did.
Ok, so I absolutely love your fashion style. Where do you buy your clothes?! And who are some of your favorite fashion designers and local boutiques?
Lol thank you. I really like the IT Factor Boutique (an online shop), All Saints, Desigual, Zara and I also thrift shop.
Today’s age is all about ‘The Digital Age.’ With a powerful advertising platform such as Instagram, brands can reach a wider audience. In what ways do you think Instagram has helped you build your brand?
Oh wow, without Instagram I don’t believe I would have reached and built such an amazing, engaging and loyal community. I generate a good amount of my revenue from Instagram, not to mention the connections created and fostered are invaluable.
Tell me one thing that most people may not know about you.
That I was born in Birmingham, England to West Indian parents.
Are there any projects you are working on, and/or upcoming events that we should know about?
Yes, a US book tour.
Name one thing that your hometown city is known for that some people may not know.
Brooklyn is technically a part of Long Island, but not considered to be in Long Island.
Where would you like to be in five years from now?
Still residing in Brooklyn, New York growing and scaling Womeneur.
What is one piece of advice you would give to women out there who are looking to start their own business?
Do your market research and build a solid business foundation. Too many people launch a website and get on social media with a build it and they will come mentality. Nope, those days are gone. Validate your idea and nail your target audience. Create a practical business name and lock the domain and same name down across most social media platforms.
