Hi Vanessa! Welcome to The Boss Diary! So glad you’re here. I think it’s amazing that you are helping women find love. Tell me all about how you started your small business and your work as a relationship coach.
Hi! I am so happy to be here thank you so much for having me! I must say that my small business is the result of years searching for myself and a series of trial and error. I first went to school for International Studies and Immigration law; however, I learned that such topics was not my true purpose. The best way I can explain how I started this business is simply by allowing myself to be my first client myself, let me explain. My business “Honey” was influenced by my lack of self-love and perspective of self-worth. I remember it like it was yesterday when I use to give all my love to men ( and the wrong kind too!) leaving me with no love for myself. I was often left hopeless and I kept trying to find myself through men resulting in toxic relationships. It took me a while to realize that your longest relationship that you will ever have, is with yourself. And so I began focusing on myself; learning to love myself fully for love to then overflow in the life of the man I chose. I began to set standards and gain clarity on the relationship I wanted knowing the ones I never wanted again. Through my writings and social content, I realized I was uncounsciously teaching my readers a thing or two about love. In 2016, I became a certified coach and later decided my specialization would be a clear focus on relationships. I believe relationships are only a part of your life but a huge part of your life. Today, I coach couples to achieve a love that is sweeter than honey while being sweet to themselves.
Today’s age is all about ‘The Digital Age.’ With a powerful advertising platform such as Instagram, brands can reach a wider audience. In what ways do you think Instagram has helped you build your brand?
I love Instagram, it has helped me build my brand even when I did not know how to build a website (website coming soon! *entered my plug right there*.) It’s a platform where I can constantly share my content and be of service to others. Many clients have discovered me though my Instagram account. I had a lot of personal and in depth coaching sessions even in my DM sometimes, who knew! Instagram gave me access not only to express my expertise in healthy relationships but to meet people around the world that I still keep in touch with and continue to inspire me!
Besides Instagram, what other social media platforms do you use? Which platform do you find the most appealing for your brand?
Facebook is still the bomb .com! I just recently started my business page called “Mademoiselle Honey” but before I would simply create content on my personal page whether that would be through heartfelt post or videos. Facebook Lives are amazing because not only does the audience get to see you on video which creates that trust factor but you get to serve your audience right away by answering their questions/struggles as these show up in the comments during your Live session. It has also been an amazing platform to discover other amazing like-minded Female Entrepreneur; not to mention, Facebook allowed me to create a virtual healing community through closed groups.
I actually also offer my coaching services to a women empowerment company called Crowned for Success, where I would do a series of Live coaching sessions in the company’s community Facebook page called Crowned for Success Queendom which holds more than three thousands members. Needless to say, this alone opened a lot of doors for me. I receive such amazing messages from women all over the world with pictures of them doing the practices and strategies I coached on during my Lives; that is the best feeling, knowing a woman is taking action steps to self discovery increasing her standards and no longer being blinded by negative self talk.
Have you experienced any challenges in your career as a Certified Relationship Coach? If so, how did you overcome these challenges?
I did! I experienced a lot of challenges actually. If you ask me every Boss does. I experienced a lot of financial challenges. When I first started this business I was still on maternity leave making a lot less money then I could have been making. I had to quickly learn the profit in investing in myself before I even made one sale which was to acquire the skills needed to build the business of my dreams. So many times I thought I couldn’t afford a certain mentor or program but I swear, the universe keeps being in the favor of the dedicated one and where there was a will there was always a way. I also had to work on mindset- I had to accept that not everyone will support my vision (including close ones who I was sure would), I had to learn that dollar signs are simply an exchange of energy that is abundant if you have the courage to just go for it and that what is mine will forever be mine. The biggest challenge of all was trusting; trusting that I will get further than my vision itself during times I feel I wont achieve it, trusting that I will meet people who will change my world and that I will in fact change the world of others exactly how I intend to.
Who are some of your favorite business women or entrepreneurs that you look up to and have inspired your work?
This is a non exhaustive list but the ones that have truly mentored and changed my life would have to be: Alex Wolf ( introduced me to my ideal lifestyle), Wendy Porter (introduced me to online coaching), Reese Evans (introduced me to a limitless life and to only take Yes for an answer when it comes to living my purpose fully), Taurea Vision Avant ( introduced me to the art of book writing, creating various revenue streams and always speaking up in personal situations and especially in my business) Martha Cooper Hudson ( introduced me to my value, my new standards as a woman and my unapologetic self in discovering the woman I was destined to be and just be it)
Tell me one thing that most people may not know about you.
In 2016, I graduated from a wellness program and acquired my diploma as a Detox Specialist. I actually just enrolled in a beauty school here in my city today! As a certified coach and soon to be psychologist looking to foster healthy relationship with the self and your partner, I am constantly seeing how a relax environment creates the space for openness and healing. And so I will be adding facials and body treatments along with my therapeutic practice. It is time now, for innovative ideas to see its day and this is simply one of many.
Are there any projects you are working on, and/or upcoming events that we should know about?
I am currently working on my third self-publishing book called “ The Collective” which will actually be a collection of short poems centered around a specific theme every month; this month, I am focusing on forgiveness. Writing is my own therapeutic approach for past and current relationships that I am delighted to share with my audience at the end of May.
What is your most proud moment or milestone that you have achieved as a female entrepreneur?
My proudest moment would have to be something that I have just recently emphasised on: the power in my “No” during my quest to constantly connect with what is aligning for me and removing what isn’t (no matter the cost or opportunity that could come from such thing.)
I am learning that being a woman who has the courage to be unapologetic in her decisions while standing firm by them will only bring me closer to the best life I can set up for myself.
Do you have any short or long term goals for the rest of the year?
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am in the midst of opening my coaching practice for women. As mentioned before, my current business is a focus on romantic relationships; while my women empowerment projects is another branch to my coaching practice that will coach woman to love herself more in order to attract the love she deserves! I am thinking membership site, retreats, workshops, and beauty services.
Now let’s get a little more personal! Tell me your favorite:
Summer activity: Romantic picnic featuring fruits, healthy paninis and Moet champagne with a book on my side
Band or music artist: Right now I would have to say Dadju
Restaurant in your neighborhood: Warehouse, an energetic restaurant where all food is under 6$; burgers, pasta, tacos, salad you name it !
Clothing boutique: I love my Zara

And let’s get a little more personal, shall we:
If you won $20 million dollars in the lottery, what would you do with that money? First, I would pay back my student loans ( which is totally worth it by the way – dreams are priceless) and give a little to my family. Second, I would create a series of villages in poor areas under my name where wellness is at the center of all resources. Third, I would launch my artistic projects that have only been thoughts in a journal for far too long. Did I mention I am an artist? Another therapeutic approach of mine. I am sure I would do plenty of other stuff too and would flourish as I go; all in the realm of healthy loving, wellness and art forms.
How would you describe your best friend in 3 words? Three words? Very much needed Haha! but no really: Spontaneous, hilarious and genuine.
