How To Boost Your Energy When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

So let’s be real – there are days when we want to stay in bed, curl up in a ball, and binge watch the latest Netflix shows. Trust me, I’ve been there. But unfortunately, life gets busy and we don’t have an option. Time waits for no one! So what do we do when we need to boost our energy and keep hustling?

I asked my followers on Instagram for requests on which blog topics to cover, and one of my followers asked me to talk about how to breathe when you are overwhelmed with everything all at once! I know that exact feeling. I actually work a few jobs, as I do a lot of freelance work, blogging, and run my own fashion business. It can be tough to keep up the same routine every morning. And if you live in a city like Buffalo, those cold winter grey mornings can be difficult to overcome. I love all four seasons but I’m not a fan of waking up to no sunshine! But there are ways to boost your energy no matter where you are. These are my tips to maintain a happy and healthy energy throughout your work week.

Daily Exercise  This is my number one tip for boosting your energy. In theory, we tend to skip our workouts because we “don’t have time” and we are constantly rushing every morning. But the more you skip your workouts, the more lazy and sluggish you feel. I know for some, getting up to go workout isn’t fun, but once you hit the gym and start moving your body, your brain also starts to wake up. I prefer morning workouts, but afternoons are great too. Even if you do yoga in your living room, or do 20 minutes of any form of exercise, you are starting your day on a positive note. Remember, all it takes is 20-45 minutes every day. And if you’re anything like me, taking gym selfies is also an energy booster!

Prepping Your Meals In Advance – It’s all in the meal prep ladies and gents. For me, one of the most time-consuming things I had to deal with throughout my day was stopping my work to cook a meal. When you have so much to do and need to have a quick lunch, its best to have something prepared. Don’t skip a meal! You might think that skipping breakfast or lunch is more productive, but it’s actually less productive, and its a fast way to loose energy throughout the day. Breakfast is the most important meal, so at least grab a bagel and juice to get your day started. My go-to lunch recipe? –> cucumber salad. It’s super easy to make and I can have lunch right at my desk while I take a break and watch my favorite Youtube videos.

Cucumber salad recipe:

All organic —> romaine lettuce, cucumbers, cheese, and granola
A few benefits of cucumbers 🥒
— Revives your eyes
— flushes out toxins
— Helps aid in weight loss
— Nourishes you with vitamins
— Low in calories

Stay Hydrated – Water, water, water. To be honest I don’t like water lol. It’s so blah….and has no taste. But I add cucumbers or lemon to mine. Drinking water throughout the afternoon can actually prevent tiredness and keep you feeling energized. For those of you that work from home, you tend to get sleepy sitting at a desk all day. Be sure to have a water bottle with you at all times. Carry it wherever you go.

Take A Walk – Often underrated but so important. I love my neighborhood and try to get out as much as I can. During the winter, I may not be so inclined to go for a walk outside, but I will get up from my desk, stretch my legs, and walk around my apartment complex. I like to put on my headphones and listen to my girl boss Spotify playlist (will share that in a future post). Your legs need to move around, and your eyes need a break from the computer screen. Get those legs moving girl, and take a mid-day break!

Lighten Your Load – We’ve all got things to do, I get it. But you may be doing toooo much. It’s ok to say no sometimes. Not every opportunity is for you. Remember, you are only one person and you can’t do everything. One of the main reasons for fatigue is overwork. We always feel like we have to be working and constantly on the go. Set your priorities in terms of the most important tasks. Create a calendar that will help you organize your weekly schedule. I love using trello to create projects and deadlines.

If you are feeling overwhelmed try these tips and see how they work for you. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and keep being the awesome girl boss you are meant to be. Thanks for reading and see you in the next one, xoxo
