Happy Friday! This next Girl Boss is one of the realest people I know. This young lady is making a name for herself in her hometown – Buffalo, NY. At the age of 10 she moved to Florida, but felt ties to where she came from and moved back to Buffalo when she was 18. I’m so glad she did because she’s one of my faves. She is so authentic and isn’t afraid to be transparent to her audience. Also, her fashion game is so sick – she’s all about the denim! I love her simplistic style and personality. This one is especially for the girl boss who may have a hard time being ‘real’ on social media, and who made need a little boost in confidence from this gem. Grab a cup and become inspired! Enjoy your Friday read….
Hi Hailey! Welcome to The Boss Diary blog! I’m so glad you’re here girl. Tell me about your life as a Blogger and what motivated you to start?
Hey girl, hey! Thank you for having me! Ever since I can remember, I have looked up to influencers on the internet. I remember watching youtubers thinking how cool it was that they had a connection to so many people. I wanted to be just like them, but without the camera! I have always had a need for personal connection, so I fell into the world of blogging. These days, I am getting “comfy” in my blogger seat, and really trying to nail down what I am most passionate about.
I love your authenticity and transparency that you show to your audience and followers. Your positivity is contagious. Why do you think its so important to ‘keep it real’ with your audience?
It’s funny you ask this because I was actually just thinking about sharing on this topic. For most of my life, I never really felt like I fit in, or that I could be myself and that it would be okay. My mission today is to create a place not only where I fit in, but where others feel comfortable to be themselves too. I think that being authentic and transparent is the key to personal connection. I want to be honest, I want to be myself and I want others to see that as an example.
Today’s age is all about ‘The Digital Age.’ With a powerful advertising platform such as Instagram, small businesses and brands can reach a wider audience. In what ways do you think Instagram helps you build your brand?
I like to think of Instagram as a hand shake. On the surface level, anyone can get a good idea of the kind of girl I am just by looking at my photos and my captions, but they don’t quite understand what I do yet. It’s a place for a good first impression and that leads interested individuals to your website therefore increasing your business.
Besides Instagram, what other social media platforms do you use? Which platform do you find the most appealing for your brand?
Instagram is definitely the most appealing for my brand. I think it lets me connect on a level that other platforms don’t. I use twitter more personally, but I do share about my blog a lot there too. I’m terrible when it comes to Facebook. I’ve got to up my game there!
Have you experienced any challenges being a Creative? If so, how did you overcome these challenges?
I have never been super creative if I’m being honest, but I think what has really helped is forcing myself to get out of my comfort zone. Meeting new people and seeing new places gives my tiny creative muscle a good workout. Within the last year, I have put a lot of effort into pushing myself in this area.
Who are some of your favorite Influencers/Creatives that inspire your work?
Jenna Kutcher is amazing, she inspires me every day through her podcast and emails to really drive my business. I also really love her sister Katie Eskuri who is just the most adorable, simplistic and kind human being ever.
Tell me about the most recent collaboration you’ve done. And are there any creatives in Buffalo (or outside of the city) that you’d like to work with?
I recently collaborated with Perry’s ice cream for Valentines Day which was super fun. I got to shoot that my friend Ryan Kell (Seek Axiom). I do a lot of work with Ryan. He makes my bloggy dreams come true. It’s my dream to work with any of the Aerie ambassadors, or with the Create & Cultivate team.
Tell me one thing that most people may not know about you.
I’m still in school! I go to the University of Florida online for Public Relations.
Are there any projects you are working on, and/or upcoming events that we should know about?
I am currently re-doing my blog. She needed a facelift! Stay tuned for that to be released very soon!
Do you have any short or long term goals for the New Year?
I do. I have a short term goal of becoming a really good cook. I don’t know much now, but I plan to be a pro very soon. Long term goals include graduating, and learning to like yoga…
